bolster 1. (noun) a long, thick pillow that is placed under other pillows for support.
2. (verb) support or strengthen; prop up.
ex) "the fall in interest rates is starting to bolster confidence"
(베개 밑에 까는 긴) 베개 받침 --> 복돋우다, 강화(개선)하다 
calibrate mark (a gauge or instrument) with a standard scale of readings.
ex) "the depth gauge is calibrated in centimeters"
 -  correlate the readings of (an instrument) with those of a standard
     in order to check the instrument's accuracy.
     ex) "a separate control experiment is then carried out to calibrate the calorimeter"
 - adjust (experimental results) to take external factors into account
    or to allow comparison with other data.
    ex) "the radiocarbon results would need to be calibrated to convert them to calendar ages"
 - carefully assess, set, or adjust (something abstract).
    ex) "the regulators cannot properly calibrate the risks involved"
(계기 등에) 눈금을 매기다 
stifle 1. make (someone) unable to breathe properly; suffocate.
ex) "those in the streets were stifled by the fumes"
2. restrain (a reaction) or stop oneself acting on (an emotion).
ex) "she stifled a giggle"
1. (너무 덥거나 공기가 탁하여) 숨이 막히다, 질식하다; 숨이 막히게 하다, 질식시키다 (=suffocate)
2. (감정 등을) 억누르다, 억압하다 (=suppress) 
prelude an action or event serving as an introduction to something more important.
ex) "education cannot simply be a prelude to a career"
서곡(전주곡) 
prescriptive 1. relating to the imposition or enforcement of a rule or method.
ex) "these guidelines are not intended to be prescriptive"
2. (of a right, title, or institution) having become legally established or accepted by long usage or the passage of time.
ex) "a prescriptive right of way"
지시하는, 권위적인, 규범적인, (오래 존속되어 하나의) 관행으로 인정되는 
iterate perform or utter repeatedly.
ex) "the bird's call is a monotonously iterated single note"

'이터레이션'할 때 그 iterate...
trajectory  the path followed by a projectile flying or an object moving under the action of given forces.
ex) "the missile's trajectory was preset"
탄도, 궤적, 궤도 
overarching forming an arch over something.
ex) "the overarching mangroves"
comprehensive; all-embracing.
ex) "a single overarching principle"
most important, because of including or affecting all other areas
(많은 것에 관련되므로) 대단히 중요한 
deficit the amount by which something, especially a sum of money, is too small.
 - an excess of expenditure or liabilities over income or assets in a given period.
    ex) "an annual operating deficit"
 - (in sports) the amount or score by which a team or individual is losing.
    ex) "came back from a 3–0 deficit"
적자, 부족액, 결손 
ex) a budget/trade deficit 예산/무역 적자
ex) There's a deficit of $3M in the total needed to complete the project. 
그 프로겢트 완수에 필요한 총 액수에서 300만 달러가 부족하다.
