Use evidence to say no
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to work on the task unless other things are taken off my plate. I feel like my work is full, and I am currently allocating X amount of time on ABC.”
“Currently, my day is full working on the projects you gave me, which I am motivated to do. But if this is a shift in priorities, we can talk about taking other things off my plate.”
