1. create a lot of hype : 큰 화제를 일으키다. 

def) hype : a situation in which sth is advertised and discussed in newspapers, on television, etc. a lot in order to attract everyoone's interest. 광고. 선전. 

ex) The movie ParaSite created a lof of hype. 

ex) The Academy Awards this year created a lot of hype. 

 

2. thought-provoking : 생각을 하게 만드는. 

def) challenging or causing someone to think especially about things they have not thought about before. 

ex) This book is thought-provoking and enjoyable. 

 

3. chemistry between : 상호간의 호흡. 

def) chemistry: interation between people.

ex) I love the chemistry between the two MCs. 

ex) I liked the acting and the chemistry between the actors. 

 

4. steep competition : 치열한 경쟁

def) steep: 1. having an almost vertical slope or pitch. 2. high or lofty(아주 높은)

def) make progress toward a goal

9. take a back seat : 뒷전으로 밀리다.

def) take or be given a less important position or role.

def) to feel that one is not included in something.

def) good luck 

ex) “Break a leg!” shouted the stage director to his actors before the beginning of the play. 

 - 가까운 사이에서 쓰는 말. 격식 있는 말은 아님. 

 - 연극할 때 배우들에게 '행운을 빌어!' 라고 직접적으로 말하면 오히려 연극을 더 망친다는 미신에서 유래된 말. '행운을 빌어!'라고 직접적으로 말하는 대신 'break a leg!' 라고 말함. 

 

13. like peas in a pod / like two peas in a pod : (사람/사물이) 서로 매우 비슷함 

def) so similar as to be indistinguishable or nearly so. Used to say that two people or things are very similar to each other.

14. get on in the world : 성공하다 

def) to become more successful than one was before.

15. give someone the cold shoulder : 무시하다 

def) to ignore someone intentionally. to intentionally ignore someone or treat someone in an unfriendly way.

ex) Sarah and Steve used to b close friends, but now every time they meet, she gives him the cold shoulder.

 - 상황; 첫 데이트를 하는 남녀.

M : Fine. What do you do when you have free time? 

W : I like watching movies. 

M : Did you watch the movie <Parasite>? This movie is star-studded. 

W: Yes, I did. There's been a lot of hype around this film but actually I don't like the atmosphere of the film. I think it's a bit gloomy. Did you watch it? 

M : Yes. I agree that it's a little gloomy, but I liked it. I think I have a soft spot for this kind of movie. Haha. 

It was very thought-provoking. It made me think about people who feel left out

W : Yes. Although I don't like it that much, but it was a good movie. The chemistry between the actors was amazing.
